The collaboration finally happened. Mountain Dew teamed up with NBA All-Star Joel Embiid and Houston-based hot sauce shop iBurn.
How did we get here? Well, Mountain Dew let us fans choose what flavor the hot sauce would be by voting on social media polls. About 40% of the votes went to habanero (See results here).
Before you ask, yes! The hot sauce is made with actual Mountain Dew soda. Not caffeinated, of course.
“I’m always looking for that extra kick of spice when I put hot sauce on my food, and no one knows how to bring the heat better than my friends at MTN DEW,” Embiid said in a statement. “We sampled so many different flavors, spices, and peppers while making the sauce. It was crazy! And the best part was that we got to bring DEW fans along for the ride. I think people will agree that there is no other hot sauce like this.”
They’re only offering 500 bottles of the new hot sauce. So, you might want to keep tabs on their Twitter page to try your luck at a bottle.
