While it sounds like a joke, this is a real warning the CDC has issued. There have been salmonella outbreaks linked to backyard poultry, and in the notice regarding safely interacting with your backyard flock, they included “Don’t kiss or snuggle backyard poultry, and don’t eat or drink around them. This can spread Salmonella germs to your mouth and make you sick.”
