My heart goes out to Simone Biles and the entire Team USA after this mornings shocking events. After her first event (vault), Simone Biles withdrew from the competition. In a statement from USA Gymnastics, they gave the reason as “a medical issue.” At this time we do not know if she will compete in any of the individual event finals. The statement said “she will be assessed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions.”
Jordan Chiles took Simone’s place for the rest of the Team Final, and Team USA took the silver (they were expected to win Gold – but Russia beat them out for first place).
