Roku has shared a first-look image from its upcoming original biopic movie, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, which sees Daniel Radcliffe sporting a Hawaiian shirt and curly hair in character as Weird Al.
Radcliffe stars as the Grammy-winning comedy recording artist in the upcoming film. Alongside the first-look image’s debut, Radcliffe released the following statement: “Wearing the Hawaiian shirt is a huge responsibility that I don’t take lightly, and I’m honored to finally share with the world the absolutely 100 percent unassailably true story of Weird Al’s depraved and scandalous life.”
Eric Appel is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Yankovic, while Funny Or Die and Tango are producing the project.
“The biopic holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like Eat It and Like a Surgeon to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle,” the official synopsis from Roku reads. “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story takes audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic’s life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time.”
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, which will be exclusively available on Roku, does not yet have a release date.
