Jack Harlow is gearing up to make his feature film debut in White Men Can’t Jump, 20th Century‘s upcoming remake of the 1992 basketball comedy, according to Deadline.

Harlow, who recently showed off his hoop skills at this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend’s Celebrity Game, will take on the starring role, which was previously played by Woody Harrelson in the original movie.

That film, which was written and directed by Ron Shelton, saw Harrelson star across Wesley Snipes as two street basketball players who ultimately join forces to take over courts across Los Angeles.
The “Nail Tech” vocalist got the lead part after his first-ever screen audition, which particularly impressed Barris, per Deadline.

Charles Kidd II, known in the industry as Calmatic, is directing the film based on a script written by Kenya Barris and Doug Hall. Barris is producing the film under his Khalabo Ink Society, alongisde executive producers Hall, Ryan Kalil, Noah Weinstein, E. Brian Dobbins and Brooklyn Nets basketball star Blake Griffin.

As the film is on a fast track, producers are currently in the process of casting Harlow’s co-star and his character’s girlfriend, who was previously portrayed by Rosie Perez in the 1992 movie.
