An employee working for Kyte Baby requested to work remotely when her baby she was adopting was born and transferred to the NICU at 22 weeks!! We all know that this is extremely early, and terrifying. Her request was denied, and she was told if she didn’t return to work after the standard 2 week maternity leave, she would no longer have a job with Kyte Baby…. WOW.
Marissa Hughes the new momma posted a video about everything happening, and it went Viral. Everyone was appalled at how this children’s company handled her situation. She wasn’t asking to take off work, she was asking to continue working remotely while she cares for her son born extremely prematurely. The CEO made a public video where she read from a prompter and was very insincere, and then she basically got called out for it, so then she posted another video where she did much better, and admitted that it was her call to make her employee come back to work but that it was the wrong call. She does state that she will have a job waiting for her when she comes back.
But would you want it?! We all need jobs… but imagine how you would feel having gone through this mess while praying for your baby in the NICU.
You can see both the videos posted by Kyte Baby here…
WOW……… we’ve got to do better. I think companies do have handbooks for a reason, and they are the rule. But SOMETIMES, rules have exceptions. Just sometimes. This in my opinion was definitely one of them.
