UPDATE: As of Thursday, September 5th Kern’s Food Hall told WATE that they are going to suspend their parking fees and find a different way to generate income for their facilities and parking. The update has not been announced on their social media or website yet.
Since the opening of Kern’s Food Hall, in South Knoxville, people have been able to enjoy free parking, however, that has come to an end.
Their website states that the first two hours are free to park but, afterwards, guests will be charged. The breakdown is:
- 0-2 hours: FREE
- 2-4 hours: $5
- 4-12 hours: $10
Because Kern’s will also be broadcasting UT games from their lawn, their will be a charge on that day starting at $5 for the first hour and then moving up $5 for each additional hour. The total cost will max out at $30 (5-12 hours).
A sign with a QR code is in the parking lot for people to scan and pay from their phone.
Kern’s says that introducing a parking fee will help with the upkeep of their building and deter long-term parking. This will also ease the flow of traffic, improve parking lot maintenance and security, and invest in future upgrades and amenities.
