There’s a good chance even if you had a horrible first date, it probably lasted longer than this.
Maggie Smith, a 32-year-old from Alabama, just went viral for what she claims is the “shortest first date ever.” Lasting a mere 45 seconds, Maggie met a man from a dating app outside a restaurant, but things took a nosedive when he asked her to step outside and then declared he just wasn’t “feeling it.”
Maggie shared her story on TikTok, which shows just how hurt she was by the interaction, and declared she was done with dating apps.
The video exploded, racking up an impressive 15.5 million views, leading to an array of responses—most were sympathetic, but some even accused her of catfishing. Maggie assured everyone [in a separate video] she had presented herself honestly on her profile stating that she’s plus-size and shows full-body pictures #nofilters.
Instead of lurking in the digital dating jungle, she’s prioritizing self-care and personal growth. Who knew a quick exit could prompt a journey of self-discovery? Here’s hoping her next date comes with a little more time and a bit less surprise!
@mcgonagallsays I think I’m going to be taking a break from dating. I just can’t do this anymore.
If you ask me, this guy did Maggie a favor. Because instead of getting to know her, he judged her on appearance alone and ended the date before it even started. He may have done the right thing by not wasting her time, but she deserves better.
