India’s biggest budget airline IndiGo is trying a new boarding feature. The feature will allow women to avoid booking a seat next to men. How it works, when you go to purchase your seat on the airline you must identify your gender before purchasing a ticket. Then it shows female travelers a pink seat at the seat selection page if it will be occupied by a female passenger. If you are a male purchasing your ticket it will not show a color associated with genders it will simply show that the seat is booked.
IndiGo representative explains that the new feature is designed to make flying “more comfortable for our female passengers.”
