It’s been SIX years since the Henley Bridge in Downtown Knoxville has been lit up with any decorative lighting, but that’s going to change this week.

The City of Knoxville announced that ahead of Tennessee’s first home game this Saturday, the bridge will be lit up in orange and white on Thursday night, around 8:30.

Thankfully, it won’t just be a one-and-done situation. The city plans on lighting up the bridge throughout the rest of the year. For example, it will be multi-colored for the Knox Asian Fest this September, and in October it’ll be pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

A schedule of lights through December, can be seen here. It includes a lot of orange & white for UT games, American flag colors for 9/11, and colors for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Mayor Kincannon said in a statement,

We’re excited to have found a cost-effective solution that will again allow us to program the bridge lights in almost any color combinations to celebrate local festivals, public events and causes that Knoxvillians hold near and dear to their hearts.
