Imagine having stomach pains only to find out it’s a bug living inside of you!
That’s exactly what happened to this 23-year-old man from India who went to the doctor after feeling pain, indigestion, and bloating for a few days, reports the Indian Express.
When doctors ran tests, they were shocked to see that a cockroach was inside the man’s small intestine… and a LIVE one at that! An endoscopy was performed to remove the cockroach, which they say was 3 cm in size (about the size of a banana slice or a penny).
The patient himself said he had no recollection of swallowing the cockroach; that’s pretty weird if you ask me. A small bug, I can understand, but how is someone completely unaware that they ingested a creepy crawler?!
The gastrointestinal doctor who performed the procedure said that the cockroach could’ve been life-threatening if it remained in the man’s stomach. Cockroaches can carry a variety of diseases such as salmonella and streptococcus.
